Westwood Wines
My mother always taught me that if you have nothing nice to say you shouldn’t say anything at all. This entry will be brief.
We ended up at Westwood Wine after a favorable review in one or other of the wine magazines. We went for the Portfolio Tasting Experience which offered us a sample of four of their current releases at $50pp. There are also other experiences, if you’d like to add food. Located in the Basswood Complex between Calistoga and St. Helena on 128 there is also a coffee shop, gift shop, restaurant and several other wine purveyors offering tastings on the grounds.
In addition to the 2021 Chardonnay, we also tried the 667 Pinot Noir, a Rhône-style red blend, and the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. All were fine, but we purchased nothing. While we did enjoy the sumptuous surroundings, crackling fire, and quiet, we didn’t get to “peek behind the curtain of the wine industry.” I think we were not the right audience for this experience.
