What Does Wine Country Mean? 

The term "wine country" isn't exclusive to the vineyards north of San Francisco. It can actually mean a variety of regions from Walla Walla, Washington to Bordeaux, France. In the Bay Area, it can generally be assumed to mean either Napa or Sonoma Valleys, but be aware that there are also vineyards east and south of the bay as well.
