Chappellet

Driving up to Chappellet is like entering a fairy tale. As you wind up Pritchard Hill, you’re surrounded by gnarly old oaks with lichen hanging from the branches and moss climbing up the trunks. At the top, you’ll find a massive wooden structure reminiscent of the Luxor in Las Vegas with its glass apex although this one is three sided and clad with wood. This Cathedral to wine is their tasting room and you’ll see variations of the pyramid shape in their logos.

We did the classic Estate Tasting. At $200pp the experience includes five of their current releases as well as a cheese plate. In between glasses, we toured the facility, which houses a massive art collection. Art even adorns some of the labels.

We purchased two wines: the 2021 Malbec and the 2021 Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir.
