Gott's Roadside

I went to Gott’s for the first time several years ago. I was with my parents, and it was on the recommendation of a wine associate at Beringer. I clearly remember her directions: drive south down highway 12 and it’s on the right after the bridge; look for the sign that says, “Taylor’s Refresher.” Me: “I thought we were going to a place called ‘Gott’s?’” Wine Associate: Yep.

Little did I know I was being introduced to a Napa Valley institution.

Gott’s is exactly what you’d expect a diner to be in a gastronomic paradise. There are your usual milkshakes, burgers, and fries, but everything is gourmet. There’s also ahi poke tuna tacos, the side of fresh veggies and hummus, and a full wine list. Although they do offer gluten free buns or a lettuce wrap, this last time I went with the Citrus and Avocado Chop salad complete with Asado spice-rubbed chicken and toasted-pumpkin seeds.

Although, I wouldn’t consider Gott’s “fast food” it is certainly faster than a sit down meal. You should also note that Gott’s is incredibly popular, so timing your repast for either before or after the lunch rush is highly encouraged. It’s also worth nothing that Gott’s is often closed in the winter for refurbishments and there is no indoor seating, so it’s not recommended in inclement weather.
